FC TSV Alemannia Aachen 1900 e.V. Black-and-yellow passion
The floodlights go on, a sea of black-and-yellow flags appears and the crowd – with one voice – strikes up the song “You’ll never walk alleng” [sic]. That’s when you feel the hairs stand on the back of your neck and get a lump in your throat.
Tivoli stadium
- Same name since 1928
- New Tivoli ground opened in 2009
- Known for its steep terraces and generous standing room (for 11,681 fans)
- Over 32,000 places
- The Tivoli stadium, the CHIO grounds and the indoor ice rink together form the “Sportpark Soers”
An unmistakeable feeling immerses the stadium: “Our Alemannia”. Whether in League Division 1, 2 or 3, Aacheners are in love – with their city, with their club. Aachen’s biggest soccer club has a long tradition going back over a hundred years which has witnessed a wide variety of changing fortunes.
And yet, that’s something that – for Aacheners – makes it so appealing: like themselves, there are times it’s on Cloud Nine and others when it’s on the floor – but ever with a passionate glint in the eye. And in Aachen, passion also keeps people standing for 90 minutes in the icy cold and hailstorms while they watch Alemannia at work.
Anyone whose child possesses an Alemannia membership card before a birth certificate wouldn’t dream of wondering whether or not to go to the Tivoli stadium, but rather what to wear. And when it does get cold, the fans stay warm with lots of mass clapping, swaying and jumping up and down. Aacheners are Rhinelanders, and Rhinelanders carry the sun in their hearts.
And, as the chant has it, Aacheners are convinced: “Rain showers over Tivoli are for wins a guarantee …”
